One Laptop Per Child Begins $100 Laptop Production

One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) is a non-profit organization committed to providing educational opportunity, in the form of low cost laptops, to children worldwide. Since classes are held outdoors in many developing nations, the OLPC laptop has been designed to withstand high temperatures and moisture, can be recharged by foot-pump, pull-cord, or solar power, has built-in wireless internet, and is equipped with a sunlight readable display. Governments have ordered 3 million of these $176 computers. OLPC hopes to eventually bring the price down to $100. More ...
